Alaska's Boardwalk Lodge Staff

At Alaska's Boardwalk Lodge our Gourmet Chefs and seasoned Fishing Guides get most of the glory. Yet, as with all successful resorts, we have a solid support staff catering to your every need and most of your desires.

Lodge Manager Art Moody hefts his largest catch of the season, a King Salmon Art Moody
Lodge Manager
Art Moody was born in Cannonville, Oregon and raised on the southern Oregon coast, where he developed a love of fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Upon graduating high school, he joined the US Army and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam. He was decorated several times for meritorious service. After an honorable discharge Art returned to Oregon, working in logging, commercial fishing and construction.

In 1979 Art married Nancy Hall, a nurse from Southern California. Soon after their marriage they moved to Tillamook, a rural community on the northern Oregon coast. Art started working as the service advisor at the Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac dealer in Tillamook. Later he was promoted to service department manager.

Art and Nancy remained in Tillamook for 22 years, raising their family. Art continued as an avid sport fisherman and bow hunter. He was a member of the Northwest Steel headers association, founding member of the Whiskey Creek Volunteer Fish Hatchery and a STEP volunteer.

In September of 2001 these two empty-nesters left Oregon for an Alaskan adventure on Prince of Wales Island. Art began working for Alaska’s Boardwalk Lodge as assistant manager, and became manager in 2002. He uses much of his General Motors training in managing the lodge. Nancy enjoys the challenges of island life and being involved with outdoor activities. Nancy works for the Southeast Regional Health Consortium and part time site office manager for the lodge.

Frenchy Beauchat
Assistant Lodge Manager
After spending a few moments with Frenchy learning about the history, culture, fishing lore and environment of Southeast Alaska, Boardwalk lodge guests are often amazed to learn he grew up in the desert Southwest. Nevertheless, Frenchy's appreciation and knowledge of this area are tremendous. There isn't much he doesn't know and he's happy to share that knowledge with others. He says there's only one thing better than fishing in Alaska, and that is spending time with family. When you combine both of those into one – well, it doesn't get any better than that.

Brian Steimle
"Fish Dude"
Just 19, but highly skilled! He is head of our Fish Packing Department. Brian is a hardworking young man who is excited to be in the beauty of Alaska. He says, "Boardwalk is a wonderful place to be – calm and peaceful – those are things the city can't provide." He enjoys his guests, his coworkers, and the opportunities he has each day to make a difference for people. "I love Alaska," he says. "I think everyone who comes here should love it as much as I do."

Kerri Gefre
Housekeeper
Like most of the Boardwalk Lodge's staff, Kerri wears several hats. An Alaska native and resident of Thorne Bay, Kerri works as both a housekeeper and fish packing assistant. Both roles have their benefits and challenges, but she enjoys her work and the people she works with and plans to return each season while attending school in the fall and winter months.

Kassi Seubert
Housekeeper
She lives in Moscow, Idaho where she will be a sophomore this year. She spends her summers on Prince of Wales Island with her parents who work here during the summer. She says she enjoys the lodge because it reminds her of her log cabin home in Idaho. She has also expressed an interesting perspective on her role as a housekeeper at the Boardwalk Lodge. "Better a housekeeper in Heaven," she says, "than a queen anywhere else."
